Faculty

We do not have faculty specifically appointed to AGST Alliance, except for the Dean. Faculty with the expertise for our programs are drawn from member seminaries and beyond. Each AGST Alliance program area (Education, Theology) is overseen by a committee of local specialists, chaired by a program director.

Teaching faculty and thesis/dissertation supervisors for AGST Alliance programs are drawn from both local and international subject specialists. This brings both depth and breadth to the learning experience of the participants. The remarkable range of experience, ethnicities and theological backgrounds is seen in the module facilitators for our MTh programs. They have included a New Zealander living in Singapore, a South African who has lived in the Philippines and is now in Mongolia, a Malaysian based in Mongolia, an Australian teaching in Lebanon, an Indian in the UK – and more! We are immensely grateful for the commitment of so many competent and willing faculty partners.

Transformational Development program

The main faculty for the Asia-based MTD program is those who are already teaching in the Eastern College Australia Eastern program. A key person – both teaching and as the overall program director – is Steve Bradbury.

Steve, from New Zealand, was for 25 years the National Director of TEAR Australia and was the inaugural chair of the Micah Network (an international network of over 300 Christian relief, development and justice organizations) and Micah Challenge International (a global advocacy campaign mobilizing Christians against poverty).

The intensive sessions of the units will also draw on practitioners and other experts from within the SE Asian region and further afield.

A strength of the program is the high degree of interaction and ‘contextualising’ between the students who are themselves practitioners bringing significant experience to the learning experience of the cohort.

DMin program

Dr Sooi Ling Tan, adjunct faculty member, Malaysia Baptist Theological Seminary and Fuller Theological Seminary.
Competent regional and international faculty will facilitate the coursework and supervise the dissertation research. In addition, in some modules ‘thinking practitioners’ will be invited to provide input from their ministry experiences.
